Steel Buildings

Steel frame buildings: Cold-formed steel is fast becoming the material of choice, also called light gauge steel it is itself a steel forming process in which a sheet of steel is pressed through a pair of rolls to reduce thickness, increase strength and improve surface finish. The process happens at ambient temperature, below the steel recrystallisation temperature and changes the mechanical properties of the steel to produce uniform, lightweight steel with a high strength-to-weight ratio, this flattened strip is then hot-dip galvanised prior to it being cold formed to required section profiles. The buildings utilise a portal frame design technology and can be up to 20 metres wide span, of any length, with a height to eaves of up to 6 metres. Here are 5 key benefits :-

Easy Installation: The steel frames are accurately engineered to fit simultaneously, with one end skidding into the other. No exceptional fasteners are required, and fewer employees are required for the entire erection process. No cutting, retaining, and hammering simultaneously long, hefty and bulky timbers.

Cost effective: Since the steel is accurately cut while manufacturing, there is no on location waste. Since fewer employees are required, that is less salaries to pay especially if you are employing others for the erection of your building.

Safe and resistant: Steel frame buildings are conspicuously more fire resistant than a timber frame construction and is furthermore unaffected by termites, bugs or rodents as well as mould or fungi. It does not have to be treated with chemicals like timber does, and a steel frame building is well grounded and less probable to be hit or impaired by lightning.

Improved construction quality: A steel frame building does not age and worsen like wooden structures do over time, so as a homeowner you don’t have to concern yourself about high maintenance. Steel is corrosion resistant, it is strong and steady so no anxieties about distorting with climate changes.

Durability: Steel has one of the largest strength to weight ratios of any building material, so ideal for garages, workshops etc. Steel will not ever buckle, divide, distort, rotate, chink, rot or splinter. All this strength, yet it weighs less than timber making it simpler to handle, work around and construct particularly when lifting.
